Reports indicate that a recent meeting to discuss possible funding for President Trump’s border wall went quickly south as the president became in enraged.
Axios reported that chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, at some point, had suggested that lawmakers attempt to meet in the middle as Republicans asked for %5.7 billion yet Democrats were only offering $1.3 billion.
This was apparently some sort of negotiating safe as President Trump immediately silenced Mulvaney saying, “You just f**ked it all up, Mick.”
CNN also published an article referring to the same event posing that Trump also demanded Mulvaney “Stop, stop, just stop ― What are you doing?”
However an official for the Trump administration later shared with Axios that the report was “an exaggerated account of the exchange that doesn’t reflect the good relationship Mulvaney has built over the last two years with the president.”
This “good relationship” might be more appearance than substance. Mulvaney has criticized President Trump in the past, once referring to him as “absurd and almost childish.”
Hopefully this was just a spat based on already high tensions as the shutdown continues into it’s fourth week.
