Democrats have made a last-ditch effort to save Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s run for the White House. Last week, President Barack Obama’s chief adviser, Valerie Jarrett, urged the president to fire FBI Director James Comey.
An unnamed source close to Jarrett told the New York Post that Jarrett and Obama were furious about the FBI reopening its investigation into Clinton’s emails 11 days before the general election. They blamed Comey for Clinton’s recent drop in the polls.
“Valerie argued that Comey was interfering deliberately in the election process and had to be stopped,” the source said. “The president said he was worried about the consequences of taking such an action — the tsunami of outrage that would come his way, and possibly become a major footnote, or worse, in the history of his presidency.
“There is also the real possibility that such an action could backfire on the president and result in a Saturday Night Massacre,” the source said.
While it is within the law for the president to fire Comey, it would be unwise to do so. Getting rid of Comey at this point would only look like an attempt to cover something up, which would only make Democrats look worse than they already look — which is beyond bad.
Comey’s only doing the job he was hired to do. Democrats are attempting to stop him from doing that job because what he might discover could stand between them and victory. It might also expose many other crimes.
That’s the definition of corruption, and that’s something the Democrats have proven they are not above — especially in this election season.
The Democrats are in a hot mess at the moment, and they have no one to blame but themselves and their nominee. Pushing the president to fire Comey only exposes how terrified they are that the truth might get out.
