Trump Legal Counsel Speaks On Russia Investigation

Trump legal counsel Jay Sekulow believes that the Russia probe of 2016 election meddling was something which was “really corrupt at its inception.”

Sekulow stated, “We pointed out the irregularities in this investigation. I mean, the biggest news of late has been the whole Bruce Ohr situation. You had the number four at the United States Department of Justice, the number four, his wife happens to work for Fusion GPS, who happens to be retained to put together the dossier with Chris Steele. And Chris Steele happens to be talking to the FBI and to Bruce Ohr, the number four at the Justice Department. Christopher Steele gets fired for leaking information yet Bruce Ohr continues the ongoing dialogue. Then you could list the Page, Strzok series of emails, you could list the salacious dossier and put all of that together and say why in the world would this investigation have legitimacy at this point?”

“It was really corrupt at its inception.”

  • Gary Johnson

every one with a brain knew this on day 1, that this was made up by the lying, corrupt, mind less, dam o rats aholes that want to take all our freedoms away

    • Megan

Everyone with a brain knows that Trump is the president and that he appointed both Sessions and Rosenstein. And everyone with a brain knows that Trump could end all this with a couple of phone calls.

  • Richard Nick

Jay Sekulow is right; “It was really corrupt at its inception.”

    • Roger

Started without a scintilla of evidence and if you have been paying attention our intelligence agencies are saying the believe Russia meddled in our election which is not collusion!

Anyone that doesn’t believe Obama knows everything about the fake Russian dossier is just plain dumb! Obama was the puppet master, and Loretta Lynch and James Comey and everyone below them were his puppets. One text message between, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page even stated that the president (Obama) wants to know everything we are doing.
This was nothing short of election rigging by Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, Loretta Lynch, James Comey, Hillary Clinton and others, these people need to be arrested and prosecuted:
Current FBI director Christopher Wray, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Huma Abedin, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Susan Rice, James Comey, Peter Strozk, Lisa Page, Andrew McCabe, Rod Rosenstein Robert Mueller (Uranium one) Eric Holder (Fast and Furious) and Barack Obama and many more belong in prison! Every one of them needs to be arrested and prosecuted for treason against the American people and the United States of America!
Because John Kerry (a civilian) is trying to usurp the power of the president he gets added!
Firing or allowing these criminals to step down and collect pensions paid for by the American people must stop and it must stop now! No one is above the law!
It is time to shut down the Mueller witch hunt! It has been well over a year and I keep hearing some idiots in congress say let him do his job! How long is that going to take! One more year, two years, five years, 10 years or a hundred years and what is the cost going to be? One million, two million, 5 million, 10 million, 100 million, a billion or more? Mueller doesn’t even know what his job is!!!!! This investigation wast started on hearsay and a lie and not only should it be shut down immediately it should never have been started!

      • Megan

Seriously? Trump is the president. Trump is the chief executive of the USA. Trump is the chief law enforcement officer of the USA. Republicans control the Congress. The Supreme Court is right-wing.

Half the people you mentioned were hand picked by Trump. Trump said he was only going to appoint the best people. The rest of the people are subject to the whims of Trump’s DOJ. Trump has the power to get rid of all his appointees and he has the power to order the removal of Mueller and end the investigation. Trump also has the power to order investigations of all his enemies. Didn’t Trump promise many times that he would go after Hillary once he took office? Yes he did.

So why are you blaming everyone but Trump himself? Trump is responsible for everything that is happening, and don’t tell me isn’t. The minute Sessions recused himself Trump should have fired him and appointed a more dependable toady to the job of AG. But he still won’t get rid of Sessions, Rosenstein and Mueller. Trump is very, very afraid of something or someone.

  • Albert L Biele

Clinton and her band of thieves get a pass, while Mueller and his gang of Clinton lawyers are brought in by Rosenstein, using an unsubstantiated dossier (Paid for by the Clinton campaign), to impeach Trump in the event he won the election. Brennan joins the plot, paying spies to monitor Trumps, pre-election campaign, joining Rosenstein and Mueller’s plot, to unseat a sitting president; making this the most treacherous, treasonous act ever perpetrated against a sitting president… considering the lack of evidence presented. These malicious attempts to overthrow this presidency will soon surface under the premises of High-Treason when the real criminals will be prosecuted. VOTE IN NOVEMBER!

    • Roger

Hillary Clinton would not get a pass if only they other 62,999,999 people would demand of each and everyone of their congress persons that she be brought to justice! It is that simple!

Where is the six billion dollars Hillary?

Hillary Benghazi Clinton needs to go to prison for dereliction of duty that cost four Americans their lives in the terrorist attacks of our Embassy in Benghazi, Libya, then lied about it! As far as I am concerned, Hillary Clinton is guilty of four murders before the fact because she did nothing to help these men after they repeatedly asked for more security. Using an unauthorized email server to send and receive classified emails and putting our national security at risk. There is no way of telling how much classified information our enemies got because of Hillary Clinton’s stupidity! Stealing government/taxpayer owned property along with her husband from the White House. Losing (possibly stealing) six billion dollars of taxpayer money while she was Secretary of State! Most people wouldn’t make six billion dollars in twenty lifetimes. Personally I think she stole the money but it makes no difference, she was head of the State Department when the money came up missing, so it is her responsibility to find it, or replace it and it is the duty of the American people to demand it!Then we have Hillary Clinton’s alleged ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas and other terrorist organizations. Is Hillary Clinton truly above the law or are all members of Congress afraid of her?

    • Megan

Jeepers — I guess Trump should not have appointed Rosenstein in the first place. That was a huge mistake. Maybe Trump should get rid of Mueller and then get rid of Rosenstein. Wait a second…Trump is declining to do that. I wonder why.

  • gotcha1

Mueller is not legitimate, what a complete bafoon! Time for him to go back to the funny farm!

    • Roger

      Mule-er is a joke!

    • Megan

Trump’s DOJ — people that Trump appointed — say Mueller is legitimate. Trump can get rid of Mueller whenever he wants to. Why won’t he do that?

      • gotcha1

Mueller has been trying to find dirt on Trump for 18 months now. Where is the crime? The answer is, there is no crime. For the American People the crime is that he is taking a salary we are paying with our taxes! What a joke. The Paul Manafort issue is weak as milk toast and will probably end up in aquittal. I would believe Trump is letting Mueller play his hand to the end. That play, as in poker, is a bluff and it is making Mueller look like a third rate ambulance chaser.

        • Megan

What is with you people? In what universe does a special prosecutor hold a press conference every day and release evidence. You’ll ONLY find out what Mueller has when he releases a report or indicts someone. Why is that you people cannot understand that?

Manafort acquitted? Are you joking? He will, however, get a pardon from Trump to keep him from flipping. The prosecution has his offshore bank records showing all kinds of money that was never reported to the IRS. The only question remaining is the number of counts that will result in guilty verdicts.

If Trump were innocent he would trot on down to Mueller’s office and talk to him. As Trump himself said — if you won’t talk then that proves you are guilty of something. And if Trump weren’t scared sheetless he wouldn’t even bother tweeting. If Mueller were investigating me I wouldn’t care a bit.

          • gotcha1

Then after all of this we can bring Hillary in and prosecute her! I really want to hear the whole story on the Steele Dossier and the bogus FISA Warrant! This is bigger than Watergate! Mueller has had his opportunity to bring whatever he had out in the open! I am sure if he had something we would have already known about it! They guy just wants to bring down Trump. In the process with his inept investigation he will bring himself down! He already looks like a complete bafoon! He hasn’t anything and he knows it! Trump is innocent! I can’t say that for all the democratic party! They’re all Trump haters because he is shooting down their golden parachutes and they know it! Wake up! I do believe you’re in another universe!

          • Megan

Trump doesn’t have to wait for “after all of this,” he can go after Hillary tomorrow. He said he would, but now he won’t. Why not?

You can’t be sure of anything. You have no idea what evidence Mueller has collected and it’s only been a short while. Remember, Clinton was investigated by Republican hacks from 1994 to 2002, and it took Ken Starr four years to get Clinton for lying about a BJ. A BJ for Christ’s sake. If it took four years for Starr to uncover a BJ then Mueller should have at least that long to uncover treason and a conspiracy to commit treason.

Of course Mueller wants to bring down Trump, that’s obvious. Like every sane person in America, Mueller sees Trump for what he is — an unhinged, prostitute banging, money laundering, lying disgrace of a human being. Trump is a clear and present danger to America and Mueller will stop him.

Isn’t payback a beetch? You Republicans tortured Clinton for 8 years and all you came up with was a BJ. But now you are all crying about Mueller taking 18 months to investigate treason. Get back to me in 6 years and then you can cry. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. You spent 8 years and millions of dollars and now we will spend 8 years and millions of dollars.

By the way, neither Mueller, nor the FBI, nor I care if Trump is innocent or not — that sad excuse for a man is going down. As far as I’m concerned I hope he is innocent as he goes down — that would be a lot funnier…even though it’s pretty funny now watching him and his base squirm and get all ticked off.

          • gotcha1

You’re a fruitcake. Common sense is not within you! Get back to watching CNN for more fantasy! I’m not crying for Trump or anyone else. I am laughing hysterically at the Democratic Party! it is comical how naive, and completely stupid they are! I could go on and on! If Mueller had one shred of evidence against Trump it would have already been out in the open and you know it! Your arguments against him are pure fantasy. You must live in never never land! His base is confident in his innocence. Your base, however, is lost, like a ship without a keel, wandering through the water not knowing where to go!

          • Megan

Why would Mueller release anything before it would do the most damage to Trump?

Why do you and Trump talk about the witch hunt every single day if you weren’t afraid of Mueller? Why doesn’t Trump fire Mueller for conducting a witch hunt?

Face the facts. Mueller is just out to get Trump. Neither he (nor I) care if there is any actual evidence. Mueller has fabricated evidence against Flynn, Manafort, Cohen and so many others. All of them will testify to whatever Mueller tells them to in order to avoid going to prison for many years.

Innocence means nothing, Trump is going to face charges regardless of the fact that he did nothing wrong.

          • gotcha1

This is exactly what I have been talking about! Why is there an investigation when there is no crime committed? All you lefties want a crime and there isn’t one! By the way, we need to bring a profound investigation on Obama and his henchmen including Hillary! I would really like to know all the facts behind “Fast and Furious!” I want all the details on Benghazi as well! I also findit amazing that 45 people with close ties to Bill and Hillary mysteriously died! Wow! The odds of that happening are infinite! Every bit of the last eight years, with that foreign fraud, was crooked! The facts are, the crimes that have been commited were done before Trump came into office! Too bad you guys lost! The democrats have done nothing but point fingers, and whine like big crybabies! What poor losers! Emphasis on LOSERS! Thank the good lord we quit voitng democrat with Kennedy! Every democrat since him has been a complete embarrassment to this country!

          • Megan

What are you ranting about? This lefty doesn’t care about a crime. I only care about “getting” Trump, and getting him is even sweeter since he never did commit a crime.

Why are you surprised that the deep state is doing nothing about Hillary or Obama? That was the plan all along.

What’s with your obsession with the word “loser.” I’m a winner. I didn’t care who won as long as there would be lots of fireworks, and with Trump we have maximum fireworks. During the campaign I could see that the Cheeto headed prostitute banger would provide us with more laughs than Hillary.

You should just sit back and enjoy the show. You seem to be very tense about all this.

        • Juanito Ibañez

Thing of it is, the worst “tampering with the 2016 election” has been revealed that someone hacked Hillary’s and the DNC’s email servers and released the messages that revealed the TRUE “Pantsuit Hillary” to the voters and the way the DNC shafted Bernie Sanders in order to “hand” the election to Hillary.

It’s Hillary’s own words that torpedoed her “selection.”

And ever since that failed, the Left has gone into “panic attack” mode because their “anointed one” lost to Donald Trump

      • Deplorable Irredeemable Susan

If President Trump got rid of Mueller, the liberals would move to impeach him.
        They already said they would.

        • Megan

Is your post some kind of satire? It takes a majority in the House to impeach. Have you forgotten that Republicans control the House? Proposing legislation to protect Mueller isn’t the same as impeachment — don’t you know that? And where did that proposal go?

Bush appointed Rosenstein to a post in Maryland. All Obama did was not fire him. Then TRUMP appointed Rosenstein to be AAG and the Republican Senate approved him.

The FISA warrant was issued by a judge who said the dossier had nothing to do with it. Get your facts from some other place than infowars.

Mueller isn’t supposed to “release any documents” and he has not.

You have zero knowledge about what Mueller knows, Cohen knows, Flynn knows, Stormy knows, Karen knows, Om..knows, or Manafort knows. Not even their spouses (where applicable) know. So how could you know anything?

Do you really think that Obama and Hillary appointed Mueller? Are you nuts?

Mueller has found 30 some crimes and he’s working his way up to Trump. You (again) have zero idea of what Mueller knows.

Trump would have gotten rid of them? Trump is the absolute, unchallenged boss of the Executive Branch. He can get rid of anyone he wants with a twitch of his little finger. But Trump is afraid of what they know and what tapes they might have. It’s a fact that a tape exists of Trump saying the N-word, the C-word and of him calling Hispanics spi*cs..

Trump told Rosenstein to write the Comey memo. Pay attention — that fact already came out in testimony.

Trump told Lester Holt on TV that he got rid of Comey because of the Russia investigation. You need to buy a TV and watch when Trump is talking. Don’t watch the news, just watch when Trump speaks.

I can tell you copied and pasted your post. Where did it come from? You need a better source.

Trump did all of this to himself. You blaming a party that has zero power is laughable.

  • apzzyk

I am a Statistician – one who has worked on a wide variety of research projects in a wide variety of settings to either confirm or refute theories, which are stated in the form of the Null hypothesis hat there is no difference, and this is the process that is done in any good investigation, including the Muelller Investigation where the null hypothesis was that there was no Russian interference in our 2016 election. In the beginning, information was gathered from all of our intelligence agenicies, both from foreign and domestic sources which all reported that their independent observations would lead to the conclusion that rejected this null hypothesis in favor or the alternative hypothesis that initially could not be tested directly that thee was in fact Russian efforts which may have effected the outcome of the 2016, where they also could not actually conclude that the Russian influence actually did effect the outcome. In this finding given the basic conclusion, no individual or group of individuals or pairs of individuals could have substantially change the outcome of the final conxluaion, to the finding that there were possibly individuals who wanted to see the alternative confirmed really did not contribute that much to the final conclusion that there was Russian involvement in factors which might have influenced the outcome were nullified.
In our system of laws we have ways, which include the presumption of innocence, and the rule of law that the prosecution must prove its case, to a jury of the the peers of the accused, beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused is actually guilty as charged. In this first criminal trial of Mr. Manafort, where he is accused of various criminal acts that took place before the election, his defense was given access to all of the materials collected by the prosecution as well as access to human witness for the prosecution, so that his defense could prepare to defend him by challenging the credibility of these prosecution witnesses. In this examination before the jury in court, they attacked prosecution witness Gates on his sexual history, which has nothing to do with the crimes of which Manafort was accused, and they also challenged him on the basis that he was to receive a lower sentence for his cooperation, which is relevant to the trial. But the prosecution also had other witnesses as well as material evidence in the form of papers, which supported the testimony given by Gates. At the end of the prosecution, the defense attorneys made the routine motion that the prosecution had failed to prove its case and asked for the dismissal of the case before they would have to begin their defense of Mr. Manafort. The Judge in the case, who is a Republican so he cannot be chalanged on judicial bias, denied the motion. Now the defense will call its witnesses and present its material evidence, which they have kept from the prosecution, to try to support their contention that the evidence is not sufficient to convict – that there are alternative explainations for both the witness testimony and evidence that the jury should consider to find that they, the jury, can not find beyond a reasonable doubt that Manafort is not guilty. The defense can also call people who were involved in the investigation that led to indictment of Manafort to challenge them on their testimony before the grand jury and other factors that are material to the case, and can even bring up their sexual conduct.
If the jury finds Manafort guilty of any of the charges, he or his attorneys will automatically have the right to appeal the convictions to the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, which is known to be one of the most conservative in the US. The prosecution cannot appeal on the charges where the jury did not convict because that would be double jeopardy. On any charges that are not reversed by the Court of Appeals, Manafort can appeal to the Supreme Court, where the government cannot appeal any matters that are reversed to the Supreme Court.
In this system, although mistakes are possible, it is the accused that seems to have the legal advantages, where any biases by the prosecution can be revealed and influence the outcome of the trial from the middle of the trial itself to the final result

    • JCC61

I’m sure you spent a great deal of time on this essay… however, Manafort’s purported crimes happened LONG before he was associated with Trump. If they want to try him, it should be done by a regular prosecutor and NOT by Mueller who is operating way outside his scope.

If this is the best Mueller can come up with, he needs to close the entire phony “investigation.” Unfortunately, I don’t see Mueller and his DEM cohorts being that honest.

  • wildmann

“DISSAPPEAR” a few of the Dem-Commie Operatives who were Steel Dossier involved! The rest will SQUEAL, and tell everything they Know!!

  • Deplorable Irredeemable Susan

Since everyone knows this is a corrupt witch hunt based upon lies, why not end it now?
Sessions needs to step down and let a new Attorney General take over and stop this madness.
Somebody needs to stop this and nobody seems to be able to dethrone Mueller.
Why does he posses unlimited powers? Is he a federal prosecutor or king of the world?
He seemingly can send his gestapo FBI agents to raid anyone’s homes, businesses, and hotel rooms.
He indicts people for anything he dreams up. It doesn’t matter if they have no bearing on collusion or obstruction.
It doesn’t matter if their crimes happened years before this election. They all seem to come right
back to Obama, Hillary, or Soros. But, those real criminals, seem to hold no interest to this
cracker jack team of “investigators”. Crickets on them………………………….No prosecutions for them.
They continue to run their mouths in speeches and interviews about how corrupt that they believe
President Trump to be. They flout the law and thumb their noses at the American people.

    • Megan

There is no need to get a new AG. Sessions recused himself which makes Rosenstein the top dog regarding the investigation.

You said, “nobody seems to be able to dethrone Mueller.” You could not be more wrong. Trump is the boss of the DOJ he can tell Rosenstein to fire Mueller and shut down the investigation anytime he wants to.

You said, “He seemingly can send his gestapo FBI agents…” Nope. He has to get a federal warrant from a federal judge (appointed by the Republican George W. Bush).

You said, “He indicts people for anything he dreams up. It doesn’t matter if they have no bearing on collusion or obstruction.” So if Mueller uncovers proof that Joe Blow murdered John Smith in a pizza dispute then he should just ignore it? Nope. Mueller has his instructions and they include prosecuting any other crimes he comes across during his primary investigation. Mueller investigated the Chairman of Trump’s campaign and uncovered evidence of financial crimes committed by Manafort. Too bad for Manafort. And if Manafort rolls over and testifies that he laundered money for Trump then Trump is a goner.

Obama, Hillary and Soros? Trump is the chief law enforcement officer of the USA — he can go after those three starting tomorrow. In fact he said Hillary would be toast after he became president. But he lied and has done nothing. Why is that?

Face it, Trump started all this. He was stupid to say he fired Comey to stop any investigation — oops. Before that he appointed an AG that had been involved with the campaign — that was really stupid. And now he won’t us his power and authority to end the witch hunt — is he a coward too?

Now he is faced with a no win situation. He can willingly testify in front of Mueller and risk telling a lie. Or he can refuse (that looks bad) and then fight the Mueller subpoena which will guarantee the investigation continues for years to come.

  • Sandy

Shut it down and fire Mueller and Rosenstein. They are investigating the wrong person.

  • Edgardo L. Perez-De Leon

Trump must demand Session to clean the house or fire Session and every one under his direct command. It is better no DoJ than a department of injustice.

  • phenry

Yes, Trump needs to fire Sessions and rottenstine and then shut down pseudo investigation. Everyone says he can’t because of political backlash. His enemies hate him already, so nothing will change. Republicans will retain house because there is not enough leftist voters to win key seats. If socialist Democrats don’t like it, too bad. The country had to put up with Obama while he nearly destroyed America singlehandedly.
If the socialists want civil war, they will be destroyed with no chance to recover.
Let’s see if Maxine waters really wants public officials to be harassed, attacked and pushed back.
