Police Officer Ronil Singh was killed while on duty in Newman California. It has been announced that Singh’s furry partner will retire to remain with the family.
Newman Police Chief Randy Richardson made the announcement during a news conference stating that the dog, K-9 Sam, will be retired so he can continue to live with Singh’s widow and 5-month-old son.
“Sam is already back home, with the Singh family, where Sam belongs,” Richardson said, Blue Lives Matter reported. “I will not take another member of that family from them.”
K-9 Sam was on duty with Officer Singh when a routine traffic stop led to Singh being shot and killed by 32-year-old Gustavo Perez Arriaga, an illegal immigrant from Mexico.
