Al Franken Accuser Makes Public Announcement

“I’ve carried it for so long.”

Leeann Tweeden, the accuser of Senator Al Franken, spoke to the press recently where she recounted the events of her terrible ordeal. She also encouraged others who have been the victims of similar circumstances to speak up alongside her.

“This is happening to women who have no power and no way to speak up,”

“I think the tide is turning, and what about all the women who don’t have microphones and a voice and can say something and it’s all over the news?” she stated

“There’s no reason why I shouldn’t accept his apology. Sure,”

“People make mistakes. I’m not calling for him to step down. That’s not my place to say that. If there are other people who come out and say he’s done this, I don’t know.”

  • Dwight Hartmark

It may not be right, it is not necessarily a crime to say something vulgar. However, vulgar actions, or a sexual assault on another person, is a crime and should be prosecuted. Al Franken should be arrested and charged with the crime. He also should be impeached by Congress and thrown out.

    • Philip fabiano

Al Franken should resign. Wondering though if your standard for arrest should apply to President Trump where multiple women have described assault? Same for President Clinton! By the way that photograph does not show actual contact. Doubtful she was even asleep–part of a staged photo.

      • Dwight Hartmark

The standard is the law, not my personal views. It would apply to anyone, even the President. It must be a charge proven without a shadow of doubt, not based solely on accusations. As far as the photo not showing actual contact, the forced French kisses had eyewitnesses.

        • Philip fabiano

First of all that’s not the standard. The standard is beyond a reasonable doubt not “without a shadow of a doubt.” If yours was the standard there would be few convictions. Also rarely in these circumstances is there “evidence” beyond accusations. Very few men who secually assaulted women would ever be charged let alone convicted. The issue becomes one of credibility which is typically supported by other circumstances. Roy Moore for instance has multiple accusers and other supporting “evidence” for instance being banned from a mall because of his “pattern” of activity. President Trump has a pattern–President Clinton also has the same pattern. The difference–that that it makes it any better for Clinton–is that 45 brags about his behaviour.

          • Martha Serafini

Wow, there are some men on this sight who get it! Thank you.

          • bobwhite1935

            Do you charge them?

          • Philip fabiano

sorry for the typos ….. i meant “not” that it makes it that much better for Clinton

          • Martha Serafini

Thank you Philip Fabiano. Well said….typos and all.

      • Martha Serafini

        Exactly.

    • I’m not an Al Franken fan, but if every man that has ever touch the breast of a women who was fully closed was arrested we would have more jails than hotels. This was not of a sexual nature. It was wrong what Franken did and it was not funny has Franken intended it to be. Although I would like to see him out office this does not reach the level of requiring that. If it were we probably would not have many of the current politicians in office which may not be a bad thing.

      • Dwight Hartmark

Clothed or not, you cannot touch another person sexuality without their consent.
What about his forced kisses on her. That would be wrong.

        • I never said it was right. What he did was wrong and not funny. I’m just not sure it reaches the level of a crime. The forced kissing is another issue. The picture did not look like he was molesting her, but a touch for a photo op. If it was more than that I am sure she would have waken up and given him a good slap on the face. I knew that I would take some flack for that post.

          • Philip fabiano

Not too sure she was actually asleep for that phto op.

          • Charles Girard

Of course you don’t feel it was a crime Mike but if some guy 6 ft. 6″ grabbed you by your balls and would not turn loose would you feel that was criminal?

          • He would never get that far. If he persisted I would take action. If a man touched a woman’s breast I would expect that she would slap him in the face and warned him to never do that again. If he did not heed the warning and persisted than I would consider that assault. I guess maybe I am from the old school. Back in my day men doing that was not that prevalent, but if he did he would get a swift slap and that would normally be the end of it.

          • EC

Your analogy is invalid, as the scenario you present definitely involves contact, whereas the picture with Franken shows NO physical contact. What you should be asking is if a guy 6 ft 6” posed for a photo inches away from your balls would you feel that was criminal? I think the answer would be somewhat less clear cut than your original question.

          • Martha Serafini

Right. Al Franken’s bad behavior is not sexual assault. It’s stupid, asshole, sophomoric behavior. It’s not illegal, it’s not resignation material. First on the list for ethics hearing and possible impeachment goes to Trump who has 12 women who accused him. Then he was elected President instead of facing any repercussions. What a joke.

          • JeffD13

            Moron…listen to yourself!

          • Did that make you feel good?

          • Martha Serafini

No, you listen to him. He makes a valid, rational point. He’s talking about intent, sexual power, and injury being different then a guy forcing a slobbery, wet kiss on a stage to freak out a woman in a skit. Yea, it’s gross, and it would piss me off……and he needs to know that. It’s not Roy Moore sexually assaulting children (9 accusations) .

          • Martha Serafini

No, your point is one for sane rational people…even feminists who totally back and believe the women who face hate because they come out. Was he wrong, yes! Is he a sexual deviant who preys on women? No.

        • ThatsMRdouchbag

THe photographer said she wasn’t asleep and had his consent for a “funny” shoot.

          • Martha Serafini

Right….it’s like comparing stealing a candy bar from a store, with committing grand theft that leaves people dead. Wrong is wrong, but it’s all contextual with varied levels of injury. Al Franken behaved like a stupid asshole…but he’s not a sexual predator.

          • JeffD13

Oh yes he is if his mind constantly moves in that direction of contact with the lady’s. Who does he think he is fooling and you sorts are enabling this type of behavior.

        • Martha Serafini

So, when Trump brags on camera about this very action….along with grabbing their pussies…..what punishment does he face?

          • Dwight Hartmark

Trump was not the subject of this article, but since you seem to want only to look at him and enable anyone on the left so they can continue to assualt women, shame on you! You cannot convict someone for their vulgar language, only for their unlawful actions. As for the President, his language was inappropriate, but even he said that when a woman says no, he would not violate her free will. There is no punishment where there is no crime. You are probably like most liberals who just refuse to accept the fact that Hillary lost. Get over it. Donald Trump will more than likely be our President for two full terms. Trump it or lump it.

      • sandraleesmith46

I don’t think any rational woman is going to accuse a man who bumps or brushes her in a crowded venue accidentally; but when it’s intentional and unsolicited it IS a crime and he needs to be penalized. It doesn’t have to be “jail” per se; there are other penalties that can be applied by courts that would likely be more effective. Ever read Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter? Public shaming might be sufficient. Or remedial therapy or classes. As a survivor of sexual abuse, I don’t freak out because a man accidentally brushes against me; but I guarantee if it’s intentional he’s in BIG trouble.

        • Vincent Rizzo

You said he should get penalized if he brushes up on you ? Why use the word penalized or is this your subconscious saying he should be (de-penalized )de- penilized castrated lol just kidding with you love but it was funny

          • sandraleesmith46

I guess that sentence was too complex for you. It is plain English, and the word “penalized” is derived from the same root as “penalty”, a synonym for punishment.

      • US Patriot

She was asleep you idiot! Do you grab women’s breasts when they are asleep too? If you do, you are sick and demented and you should be locked up, just like the pervert Al Franken should be! This is not sexual harassment, this is sexual assault!

        • Bill Bass

I would give her the magicians david cop a feel.abd she wouldn’t know what hit her

          • Charles Girard

Hey Bill you should run for office they have an assault fund set up in Washington just for perverts like you if you get caught.

          • Martha Serafini

            You make my point, asshole.

        • Get a grip. I said it was wrong. What do you expect? Do you think he should be thrown in jail for that? It was not sexual. If his intent was to molest her he would not have taken a picture of it. It was a photo taken as a joke. It was in poor taste, but what would you expect from Al Franken. He is somewhat demented.

          • bobwhite1935

It was a revenge photo to show her he was getting back at her for the unwanted forced kiss & tongue kiss. A kiss & tongue slobber like that was an assault that could have caused her to Acquire Aides in another situation or person.

          • Martha Serafini

OMG, are you kidding me? He’s posing with a stupid grin for the camera. He was a comedian. And, catching HIV from a slobbery kiss…….in 2017? Really? Are you kidding me? I am a women. I have several “Me Too” stories to tell. I support women (even this woman) to tell their stories told and have their voices heard. But condemning Al Franken when we have a self-admitted sexual predator elected President after 12 women accuse him….who has faced zero repercussions…….get your priorities straight, man!

          • bobwhite1935

My priorities are straight & It wasn’t 2017 it was an earlier time.

      • Larry Don Mordica

Not of sexual nature? What planet do you live on ? I dare say if i WAS CAUGHT IN SAME TYPE OF PICTURE I would be arrested , so should he!

        • Larry Don Mordica

This crap has been going on right under our noses. Because of some non disclosure document we the people never knew our tax payer! money was going to pay people to keep their mouth shut! We the people have a right to know !!!!

          • Rita Petty

How about if they are sued or prosecuted our tax money is made to pay for it!!

          • Martha Serafini

Totally agree! Saving politician’s asses by paying off women they harass with our money?! OMG, no wonder this is rampant. We are paying for it to continue!

        • Just for info I live on planet Earth.

      • Charles Girard

If Obama was still President he would give ole Al a promotion and it would be forgotten. That’s how Obama handled everything.

        • Clinton would make him a part of his administration–perhaps chief of staff. 🙂

          • Martha Serafini

Clinton had impeachment proceedings started against him for his indiscretions. And, this President has faced nothing for 12 women coming forward. Give me a break. Anyone who would choose to vote for a sexual predator of minors over a Democrat, is seriously ill.

        • Rita Petty

Remember when the CIA ‘boys’ were on a trip protecting President Obama and were doing cocaine and had prostitutes with them in their hotel rooms ( and refused to pay them) and Obama’s response was ” Boys will be boys…” ??

          • Martha Serafini

That is false. Obama never, ever rationalized or supported the behavior of those agents. He supported investigating it and penalizing if found guilty. Stop reading Russian news.

        • Martha Serafini

You mean kind of like Trump (accused of sexual assault by 12 women) not coming out against Roy Moore (accused by 9 women) for sexually assaulted minor girls? Yea, right.

      • Martha Serafini

Thank you! If Trump can be accused of sexual assault by 12 women and be elected and allowed to be president, and Roy Moore can sexually assault young girls and be seated in the Senate (if he wins), then how is it Al Franken could be impeached or forced to resign for trying to be a funny asshole (and, no, it wasn’t funny!)

        • Sorry, but I don’t agree with you re Moore. If he did what he is accused of doing that should have been addressed 40 years ago. It wasn’t. There has been no indication of any indiscretions since that time. I prefer to judge him for the man he is now. If his opponents had to dig forty years back to find any indiscretions in his behavior I would say he is a changed man even if their claims are factual.

        • JeffD13

Political stance…whatever lies, imagined or not, however far you can stretch them to make your ati-Trump dig…

      • apzzyk

When we had to wear flack jackets we had to ask a buddy to scratch where it itched – when you hit yourself as hard as you can on the protected area and can only feel the impact that is something. Maybe someone should sell flack jackets to women and make them wear them just in case – that is what armor is for – to protect sensitive areas. I have had at least a couple ow women shove their tounges into my mouth, and even slept with one in the nude for over a month with no sex. No big deal, we got along just fine with out sex, so why change a good otherwise relationship?

        • You are a better man than I am. Re Franken shoving his tongue in the lady’s mouth I consider sexual abuse. The rest as far as a am concerned is just inappropriate behavior. Touching a flack jacket was not sexual and not meant to be that. I don’t care for Franken and would like nothing better than to see him forced out of office, but we have to get real on what is sexual assault.

    • Martha Serafini

And the 12 women who have accused Trump of the same? And, admitted (bragged about it on camera)? He was actually elected after he was accused! If this is about what’s a sexual assault, Trump needs to be impeached and prosecuted. And, Roy Moore sexually assaulted minors! Can you spell ‘double standard’ for much worse?

      • Dwight Hartmark

Big difference here. Al Franken admitted to his sexual assualt.
That is a good indicator that he did it.
The two you mentioned, there’s no admission, or even any proof at all.
They’ve innocent until proven guilty. Do you have proof? Of course not. You and those calling for impeachment of the President, that’s a joke. Get real.
        Liberalism is a mental disorder.

        • Martha Serafini

The “difference” is the two morons accused of multiple sexual assaults (9 from one and 12 from the other) lied and refute the corroborators and proof (try reading the Washington Post story) even though it has been repeatedly substantiated. They claim ALL these women are liars…..just like Bill Cosby did. You believe he is innocent too? Do you think all the children assaulted by priests in the Catholic Church for decades were liars too? All the same behaviors. It’s about power and deviance. Not political party.

Your “big difference” is…when you get caught, disregard the proof, the corroboration, and humiliate and further victimize people who have nothing to gain but humiliation and condemnation for going public.

Moral of your story, lie and cover your ass, even if it causes further pain to your victims. And don’t forget to use “God” in your lies. That’s the ONLY difference. If you actually read the story, listen to the victims, and you still believe they are ALL lying……than you are the one lying, to yourself. Your logic is nothing anyone would even teach a child to use when discerning what is truth. If you lie, you’re innocent. If you take responsibility, you’re guilty. Really? So lame.

Al Franken did not commit, and has never been accused of a sexual assault. He forced a sloppy kiss on another perfomer on a stage in front of an audience, while rehearsing a USO skit-kiss that she didn’t want to rehearse. The picture of Franken is clearly a pose with someone taking a picture, and there not even contact. He was a comedian at that time. It was chauvinistic and disrespectful, but it wasn’t sexual assault. Even the woman who experienced it said that. Your fact-checking stinks (what a shock). Moore accusers are not liberals. The vast majority are Republican and voted for Trump. One of the Trump accusers is currently in court suing him for liable. Both of these men threaten(ed) to sue the women and the Washington Post. Trump didn’t and neither will Moore. Because they know they can’t.

This isn’t about liberal or conservative. It’s about a sexual power that has been part of our culture since its beginning. In our churches, our corporations, our politics. And, now that skeletons are falling out of closets all over the place, men like you who don’t get and still defend the indefensible, continue to enable it. Grow up dude. Man up. Face what’s true and expect the same from the nation’s leaders. Lay party aside for one fucking minute, and choose to protect the women and children in your life who you place at risk of being victims in the future by making this a political debate and not a moral and ethical one.

          • Dwight Hartmark

Your defense of Al Franken is sick, and you don’t even realize that you are too. Take your political blinders off and stop defending the very people you claim to detest. Please don’t reply back with anymore of your biased poison.

          • Martha Serafini

It’s your willingness to turn a blind eye that is sick. You rationalize predatory behaviors from men with power towards women and children because you aren’t affected. Let me guess, a white, male, and self-described “christian” who desperately needs to “be right” and doesn’t know how to “be right” without searching out the known facts, so instead you parrot the words of others who feed your need.

Like Trump, you demonstrate your morality with your willingness to call victims liars, because in the absence of any real value system of what is right and wrong, you just need to be on the winning side. Your words express that you don’t care about the truth, or these women. And you’re willing to maintain that by blaming it on political parties, disregarding my post about this being about right and wrong, not liberal and conservative. That’s why you are only left with telling me to shut up. Just like Alabama’s REPUBLICAN FEMALE GOVERNOR, who came out stating she believed the women (because she actually looked into the situation and read the piece and watched the statements given), but would vote for Roy Moore anyway, because getting tax reform was more important that having a sex predator lead in the Senate. Sick and pathetic, but at least she spoke the truth about what her real priority is. You can’t even do that. I sincerely hope that the women and children in your life (if there are any) never experience this type of assault, because they could find no ally in you. “What Would Jesus Do?”……..yea, right.

You framed this discussion in terms of politics, I responded by saying this is not about political parties. There are no “political blinders” in that perspective…..but if you couldn’t even get that from my first response, than you are really stuck in your own shit…either that or you’re just that much of a parroting puppet who is too afraid to even look for the truth. Now, how about you shut up, since you only say what you’ve been told to say and think by others. Useless.

          • Dwight Hartmark

You’re the only one defending a sexual predator like Al Franken. So obviously you’re full of shit. Liberals like you resort to outlandish accusations simply because you do not have facts to back up what you say. Until you have a clue what you’re talking about, yes just be silent, lest you prove what a liberal lying person that you really are.

          • Martha Serafini

I didn’t defend him…..can you read? IT’S NOT ABOUT PARTY…IT’S ABOUT MORALITY! You clearly haven’t looked into anything…..your words prove it. Can’t argue with stupid. If you can’t understand words on a written page, than you are doomed to remain in the hole you’re stuck in. If you’re unwilling to expose yourself to facts, then that’s what you’ve chosen for yourself. You sound absurd….Al Franken is a sexual predator, but Roy Moore and Trump are innocent. Holy shit, dude. You’re lost.

          • Dwight Hartmark

            No, you lost.
            Trump and America won.
            Trump it or lump it!

          • Martha Serafini

Intelligent. You make my point. The dumbing down of America. Lead the way.

          • Dwight Hartmark

LOL, Martha, clearly the idiots are on your side of the political landscape. Crying, screaming at the sky, lies, fake news, purchasing false documents from enemies of America, need I go on and on and on. You and Hillary are the queens of the dumbing down of America.

          • Martha Serafini

Purchasing false documents from the enemies of America? WTF. So, you had no knowledge or insight to offer on your pursuit of truth for the sexual predators you support, so you skip to another subject, but with equal stupidity. It was TRUMP who called for Wikileaks to find Clinton’s stolen emails. It was Trump, Jr, Jeff Sessions, Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort, Mike Flynn, who have all met with “enemies of America” (dah- Russians) and are now under investigation for illegal activities. You demonstrate the very reason why this country is in the shape it’s in. You hear surface talking points from Fox or Trump and you parrot them without knowledge. You already demonstrated that, in your inability to make any sensible argument of fact in your previous posts. You parrot….it’s faster and easier than learning. You don’t expose yourself to different medias, you choose the one that echoes your baseless emotion and go with it without proof, or any effort to fact check. Shame on you. You are a pawn without a moral compass in a country desperate for truth. This post is just as stupidly void of fact as your others were. Call names…..project inaccuracies, but it does nothing to get at what is truth. Your words demonstrate not even the slightest interest into what might be factual. As your posts repeatedly show, the only moral compass you pursue is being on the “winning” side. As I stated before, I feel very sorry for the women and children in your life, because you sell their safety and dignity down the river, along with your own morality…….if that ever existed to begin with.

          • Dwight Hartmark

You are a fool not worth talking to. So find someone else to practice your mind witchcraft on. You do not know me, so take a hike and spew your poison someplace else.

          • Martha Serafini

I know, facts are scary things, aren’t they…they make you look at things, and think for yourself and decide what YOU believe is wrong or right. Clearly that’s a concept outside your comfort zone. Think I don’t know you? Oh, I know you…there are lots of “you’s” out there. If your point can’t be made with name calling and parroting the insults of others, you got nothing. And that’s why you love those things in Trump.

    • apzzyk

How about Trump and the law suit that will not be heard by the court which has no power to order the President to appear or tesify. Remember the Tape from the Studio and the instructions on where to grab women. Then there was his beuaty contest in Moscow where he went among the young contestants in their dressing room, then how about Marla Maples?

  • apzzyk

For anyone who has ever worn a flack jacket you would know that getting groped through one is impossible – since he had both hands in sight it was in public, as opposed to Moore’s actions with the teens in private places where it might well have gone further. Has he paid off paternity suits? It is also rough on a teen agger to admit that she was stupid enough to make herself look available to an older guy in the front seat of a car. For my own protection when I was teaching in a college and needed a baby sitter I would always hire them in pairs just to avoid the appearance of impropriety.

    • sandraleesmith46

‘Scuse me; Moore’s actions have NOT been proven; the ONLY evidence offered is an old yearbook from HS that has a signature in it that was copied from a COURT stamp, yet the allegation was supposedly before he was on a bench. The “D.A.” on it were the initials of his court clerk who stamped the woman’s later divorce decree; her name is Deborah Adams, and the initials signify she was who applied that stamp to the document on his behalf. Moore was an ADA at the time of the alleged accusation, and never signed his name as it appears in that book. Try getting your facts straight before you accuse.
BTW, as a young adolescent, I babysat for many people, often considerable distances from my home, and the deal with my parents was they had to drive me to and from; I never had 1 try anything untoward, even in the wee hours of the morning, alone in a car on deserted roads. These allegations are politically motivated, not genuine.

      • apzzyk

The legal standard in civil matters is preponderance of the evidence which is far lower than the beyond a reasonable doubt of criminal convictions. OJ was acquitted at criminal trial, but owes all that he will ever have because of the civil suit by Goldman’s relatives. If it would have been just one woman who was a teen at the time, it would have been a he said she said, but with several, that makes the preponderance of the evidence the standard. The statutes of limitations have run for both civil and criminal so there will never be a trial. I am really a Bernie supporter, but I think that it would be good if Moore were elected and then the matter of seating him would be left to the Senate, and will encourage friends who do live in AL to vote for Moore Sometime you should read the book titled ‘Elmer Gantry’ or get a copy of the old B&W movie starring Burt Lancaster Moore would not be the only hypocrit to serve in public office. These matters should all be topics on the National Inquirer given what else is happening that is far more important. I am taking my VA 100% disability pension and SS and moving to Canada so that I can get the medical care that I need. That will be right after the VA pays my claim for failure to treat – the last similar one cost the taxpayers $3.2 Million. Lets cut taxes on the wealthy and corporations again and get more claims like mine because there is no more money to fund the VA Healthcare system. I am just discusted with the whole mess, but want to watch the revolution on CBC or CTV.

        • sandraleesmith46

Sorry, no it doesn’t; not when the accusations all appear at essentially the same time in the same leftist rag, DECADES after the alleged events. THAT looks much more like collusion, especially when there’s no possibility for a trial and fair hearing at which the accused could bring forth witnesses and evidence to exonerate himself. I see where YOU’RE coming from; by all means, can I help you pack?

          • apzzyk

I have worked and stayed in the South before and so I am not surpirsed that the people of AL would return Moore to the bench after the SC removed him, only to have the SC do it again – he is just a clone of Sessions only more overtly religious in an office that calls for equality under the law. The Washington Post has a longer record of reporting the best possible news, while FOX news has no credibility at all, and so when we hear FAKE news from someone on the Right we can be near certainty that it is closer to being correct than that of the one who cried that. If he would have been a candidate in AL I would bet that Jim Jones would have been elected. The possible great mistake of the US was allowing the Southern States back in, so good luck in the 1850’s.

          • EC

You apparently don’t know your ass from a hole in the ground. The U.S. didn’t “allow” the southern states back in, they ILLEGALLY prevented them from leaving the union. If you bothered to read, you’d realize that the Constitution guaranteed every state the right to secede WITHOUT interference from the federal government. What was illegal was Lincoln’s reaction and going to war to prevent that secession. But then I wouldn’t expect most northern morons to do anything but tear apart the south – that’s all they know, and they don’t care to learn the truth. And oddly enough, most of them are liberals like yourself… (and before you fling your predictable shit, be aware that I am a native Californian, not a southerner…)

          • apzzyk

One of the places that I worked in the S. was in North Carolina for a major pharm company, which required the high tech labor to be imported from the N and where ever it could be found, so we brought out outside and liberal attitudes to the place with us, and the same thing happened in Charlotte with the financial industry so while we brought a lot of well paying jobs – which we had to do because even their major universities could not meet the need, but because of the importance of the ‘social issues’ we ran into the headwinds of conservatism. Finally, the gerrymandered state legislature came up with the ‘bathroom’b bill, so one of the major employers, the SAS Institute had to move its classes to outside of NC – This buiness and its computer language courses brought as many as 1000 people from outside in every week, so the hotels in the area immediate area were always full, but with the bathroom bill and the movement of its classes to elsewhere, the hotels probably barely made enough to just stay open – the RDU airport is far less busy, etc.If any of these high tech businesses has just picked up and left for places that were more friendly to its diverse workforce the top would have been chopped off of the NC economy. About 10 years ago my daughter who worked for a major financial business in Denver was offered a promotion with a transfer to their new operation in Charlotte, but I advised her not to take it because she is married to a black man and has 3 mixed boys – inside of Charlotte they would have been ok, but outside not. The existing population of NC would prefer to continue being social conservatives even though it is costing them money. Now Amazon wants to build a new headquarters that would employee up to 50K, and there do not seem to be any southern cities on its short list of places to build it. It would mostly have to find new educated employees from the outside because there is no reserve of them anywhere in the South. Now, with Trump in office with his bigot support, there is the possiblity that the auto plants in the S. may more to other places where diversity is tolerated. These buisnesses were located there rather than in the N because of lower wages and no unions (right to work – and stay poor) states. The locals would rather keep their Confederate Statues than put up with the diverse work force. You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink. With all of the steps backwards, my new travel plans will be around the south rather than through it, and I am probably not alone. It seems to like being the set for “Easy Rider’ with the shotgun scene. In order to attract 21st Century businesses, the existing population has to be out of the 19th Century.

WaPo was a leftist rag back when I lived in the DC area 4 decades ago and it’s worse now. Fox didn’t even exist then, as a TV station or news producer. And it lost credibility when the Saudi prince bought in and began controlling what they aired. As for the people of AL wanting MOORE, what they DON’T want is another leftist idiot in the Congress. Jones was never a Christian and would have made little or no headway there any more than in any other legitimate group of Bible believers. I pray your eyes and ears and mind get opened in time, although I seriously doubt they will.

          • Martha Serafini

Yea, I was waiting for you to use the word, “Christian.” Yea, I’m sure Jesus would do what you are dong to these women…..because surely voting for a sexual predator is better than a Democrat or Independent. You need to go back and re-read your posts. Christian? You are a joke, and anything BUT a Christian.

          • sandraleesmith46

I’m sure you were perched like a vulture waiting for that. I have no vote in AL; I live in AZ; I simply don’t like to see anyone, man or woman. falsely accused and destroyed by media and fools like you.

          • Martha Serafini

“perched like a vulture waiting for that?” You really do have an exaggerated sense of self-importance. Shame on you. Roy Moore has had 9 women with 30 corroborators. All liars paid by the media? Yea, just like the 15 women who accused Trump. All liars paid by the media. And, Bill Cosby, who paid all those women? OR, Harvey Weinstein, who paid those women? Certainly not the media……hmmm. And, who paid off the women who stepped up about PBS news host Charlie Rose who was fired today? There is nothing false about Roy Moore’s victims and their stories. If you actually read the report and listened to the stories of the women, you would know that. Ivanka Trump believed them, even the idiot FEMALE Alabama governor said she believed the women but would vote for the child sex predator anyway because she wanted tax reform to pass. You are no different then that governor. You give a pass to a child predator by blaming it on the media. Then call yourself a Christian. Pathetic. and, really sick.

I am a statistician by training and I have been trying to make more of the world predictable for over 50 years, and so at 78 I am wearing a T that reads “I am thinking dirty thoughts” – am I abusing women. We are getting more detalls from the first accuser of Moore today. My problem is with the age at the time of the accusors. If we compare the news as given by the Washington Post – you probably did not like their reporting on Nixon either – vs the reporting on FOX news, there is almost no comparison when it comes to credibility – using their observations to make predictions. I would really like to see Moore elected in the state that may be best known for not issuing valid ID’s to vote in minority areas. Didn’t the last Gov. leave office under distress? Did not take expanded medicaid so that my friend’s son who came to CO about 2 years to get stabilized on 13 meds has had to be taken to the ER monthly at taxpayer expense. There is a noticable and statistically signifiant difference between age-specific death rates in AL and CO – we live longer.

          • sandraleesmith46

Well, Mr Statistician; 16 was the legal age of consent in AL back in the day, which makes ONLY the 14 y/o questionable; and in her case that yearbook has been debunked. The rest were, according to the extant laws, of legal age to consent to sexual activity.
As for WaPo, it was very leftist in its reporting on Nixon even before Watergate and I was living in the DC area and reading it as well as other sources at the time! Fox didn’t even exist as a network let alone a news station at that time. It came along with cable later.
Not taking expanded Medicaid was a WISE move on their part. And who said they don’t issue valid IDs in minority areas? To valid voters, they do. Your friend’s son sucking off the public teat is why they didn’t take the medicaid, along with all those like him.

          • apzzyk

Age of consent, if left to the states, would still vary widely. I know that at one time some mostly southern states had no official age of consent. The idea here is that Moore was picking on women who should have been far below his age range – a public official using his official position for possible personal gain. I am 78, and since I have been single for almost 30 years, when I was looking around and dating, I had cut off points – anyone who did not remember the day that JFK was killed was out of bounds – I have learned that you have to have something in common besides possible sex to even be able to think about having a ‘relationship’. Right now, my Female best friend is 56 – was 2 when that happened so has no memory of it, so our ‘relationship’ is limited to hugs and pecks on the cheeks, and she is still looking and I am not. On the other hand some ‘Horney Women’ site seems to have gotten my info from at least 10 years ago, and so I keep getting winks from women as young as 20 – since I have not paid my money, no communication, and since most of the ones who do this are younger than my oldest grand son, if they really exist, I just delete them when they pop up. Research now shows that the human brain usually does not fully develop until after 25, I have been seeing the world differently – hormones seem to be stronger than brain power so we have a lot of mistakes. The young Navajo woman who lives in my basement apartment is probably about 20-21, already has a 4 yo, and told me the other day that she is expecting again, and since the weather in CO is too hot for this time of year (no global warming), the 4 yo has been getting outside and heading for the park at the end of the property – was brought home by the cops 2 days ago. She is not mature enough to have kids.
Until recently the only conservative major paper was the ‘Union Leader’ from one of the New England states that really did not represent the views of the Unions ever. FOX news is very very recent, and the only reason that it survives economically is because of its contact with the NFL, so I watched the game yesterday but do not have any money to buy from its sponsors and probably would not if I had the money, just like I do not shop at WalMart or Sam’s Club.
The Gov of AL totally closed the driver’s license places – where people could get the State issued ID’s required for a couple of weeks over a year ago, and then opened them for a day a week when the ACLU threatended to sue. However, when people do not own cars or there is no public transportation, and is my case with the VA, having one 35 miles away does me no good.
45 years ago I taught at a State U in IL, where there was a yearly influx of 18 yo women, and while they were nice to look at – touching one could get you in a hell of a lot of trouble. Some faculty members took some of them up on their ‘blanket A’ offers – ‘I would do ANYTHING’ for a higher grade, and some tried that on me and there was no route for me to complain about this, but it was one of those catch 22 things – if I took them up on it, then the word would get out and there would be more, or some that would complain to the dept head that I had been the aggressor, which happened anyway just because they did not get the grade that they wanted – now, I would have had a security camera in at least my office.
In case you missed it, the US is not really a conservative place because it takes the ability to take risks to get to where you want to be. The kids that entered college this year may already be in student debt even though the graduation rate is still, for most U’s, below 75%, so if they don’t make it and don’t get the good job that the wanted after graduation, they will have taken the risk and failed, but would not have had a chance if they had not taken the first risk. My great great grandparents took a great risk when they headed off to CA in 1849-50, but got stuck in CO when the word came back that CA was full, so they were here and he panned gold in the center of what is now Denver, so he was in position when gold was discovered 9 years later in Central City, so he took another risk and left his family and went to CC to be one of the very few to actually hit pay dirt. Over 50% of the people that headed for CA did not make it with about a 40% mortality rate. Would you drive your car if there was a 40% chance that you would be killed driving it on any day? The reason that we have traffic laws and regulations which interfer with your right to drive on the wrong side of the road or do 100 in a school zone is reduce the possibllity that you will not survive a trip to the store, but we have a highway traffic death toll that shows that all of our attempts have not been totally sucessful.
With the ACA, at the time it was before Congress the first time, I thought that the delivery model of the VA should be the model of the ACA with charges based on the ability to pay – the single payer system which treats the most at the lowest cost, but that is Socialized Medicine and so is evil and Congress has been under-funding it since 1980 – the horrible domestic spending – but by 2012 we had the scandal because Obama had used EO’s to cure the waiting list problem, but the Congress did not increase the per patient funding by far enough so we had the Scandal, which is still going on. The inclusion of the private insurance company was an accomodation to the private sector, and letting the states decide whether to take the Expanded Medicaid was a concession to States Rights. Now, CO likes very much what has been offered and taken – 38,000 new healthcare jobs with no building booms in old folks homes – money in medicaid to hire caregivers to keep us in our own homes at lower costs than nursing homes (which are not considered in the overall assessment), now if that goes away we will be 3-8,000 beds short in nursing homes – send them to camp out on the White House lawn or Mall? – not considered in repeal.
When I enlisted in 1957, I signed a contract with the government to serve for 4 years, did and got PTSD to show for it. In the contract, the government says that if I were hurt while on active duty, which I was, that it will make me as whole as possible with a pension and medical care. A few years ago the Supreme Court ruled that the Federal Government could not reduce their obligations under a contract without consent of the other party – but VA care as it was in 1957 is just a distant memory and has been cut by the government to the extent that it is no longer a health care system, so is the Federal Government in breach of Contract. A judge in CO will decide next year and if I win, then the savings to the taxpayer of the past will be eaten up by what the Court orders the Government to pay me and others.
The way that Trump got elected was by way of people not asking him about the details and what would happen if he fulfilled his campaign promises. They did not know that repeal would cause them to loose their health coverage if they could not afford to pay even more for coverage. They did not know, that if they were middle class, that they would lose the deductablity of their mortgage interest and property taxes – since all of my income is income tax free (disability), it will not effect me, but a 70 yo friend will have to pay $1,000 more in Federal income taxes, and because our income tax system is tied to the Federal, will also pay more in State income taxes – he voted for Trump to prosecute Hillary for her non-crimes; Trump did not tell us that enfocing the immigration laws would lead to the deportation of single moms, leaving their US citizen kids for us State taxpayers to pay for fostering or group homes at at least $24K for each child until they are 18; he did not tell us that the main way that the INS would get illegals would be to sit in our court houses to arrest victims and witnesses (obstruct justice legally) – so far, just in CO, at least 10 people accused of child molesting have gone free because the witnesses will not appear – great system! On the other hand, land lords will make out like champs, they will continue to be able to deduct interest and property taxes, which the renters actually pay through them, as well as maintenance and improvements as ordinary business expenses. My friend and I may do a scam – swap titles and charge each other $1,000/mo rent, so our deductions will actually go up leaving the people who do not practice the scam to pay what he should.
Contrary to popular conservative beliefs, most of the people in CO are the working poor to whom I rent. I have 6 tenants, living in old motor homes in my pasture, who are on Expanded Medicare because their jobs do not provide healthcare, but on under $15.00/hr with seasonal (road paving) jobs can only barely afford the 50% of other places rent that I charge. Without this government subsidy it would cost the taxpayers more than twice what we pay today to get our roads maintained – here, the bare bones privately owned 1 BR apartment rents for at least $1,400 a month – plus utilities. I know of 3 recent grad teachers who are living in a 2 br apt so that they can make payments on student debt and eat too – 2 women and a man, the women get the bedrooms and the man gets the couch, and no great objections from anyone. A year ago the voters approved an education bond issue – so I voted to increase my property taxes – to fund the building of new schools for the 5,000 people who will be relocating here by 2020, but we have no idea where we will find the necessary teachers because of the low salaries. All of the Charter schools that we have started here have totally failed – only 2 out of about 5,000 grads going on to even community college where we need the high tech workers for the new jobs that are coming to town. Denver is still on the short list for the New Amazon HQ, why not where you live – out of the 50K new jobs there will be about 30 trans workers.

Well, thank-you for serving; not running up to Canada like so many did around the time I served.
That said, most of that ramble was wholly unnecessary, really. I know some men, AND women set limits on the relative ages of those they date; and others don’t. That doesn’t make it “wrong” except when the person in question is below the age of legal consent. And it was 16 across most of the south in the ’70s when this is alleged to have happened. That makes only the alleged 14 y/o was questionable and since her story has now been fully debunked….it’s no longer a question.
As it happens I lived in CO for several yrs and am acquainted with the state’s history.
Amazon MAY be looking at my immediate home area; but probably not yet; we’re far too conservative for Bezos’ tastes, I’m sure, for all we do have 3 colleges here; the largest chapter of Embry-Riddle, as well as another 4 yr and a community college that’s affiliated with NAU. We have a large industrial park where they could establish an head quarters, on the grounds of our local airport, but we aren’t yet set up for very large aircraft to utilize, although we are expanding it; it’s large enough to run slurry bombers out for forest fires around the region. As for heat related problems; even though we are the “other mile high” city, we don’t have the same levels of heat in the summer as a rule that impede flights out of Phoenix or even Denver in high summer, a plus for anyone hauling freight. Bezos’ loss really.
Maturity has little to do with chronological age, in fact. I’ve seen very responsible 10 y/o kids and very immature 50 y/o “adults”; in fact the latter are apt to be more common today than the former, because society today encourages them to NOT mature. What you choose in your dating habits doesn’t dictate what the next person may or must choose. Moore had served too, in Vietnam and may have felt he “missed out” on being a young kid, so sought to “live” that by dating younger women for a time. MANY who came back from Vietnam at the same time frame did for that reason. I saw it happening all around the base at Quantico while I was based there, and the guys were coming back from combat. It wasn’t a crime then and isn’t now. And it doesn’t warrant condemnation in the media, when it will never go to a court of law, since the statute of limitations ran out decades ago, and blocks Moore from effectively defending his name against false allegations and a biased media.
As a survivor of very early childhood sexual abuse, I know the damage such abuse does, and none of those women shows the evidence of such abuse having happened. There are ways to tell. Especially the “takes 1 to know 1” types. False allegations do serious harm to the real victims, making it so much harder for them to be heard and get justice. It’s not something to pull out and politicize.

I don’t remember whether I said this before, but I joined the USMC just our of HS in 1957, just to get it out of the way so that I could lead a life that I wanted without any service obligations after I got out and took the 4 year rather than 3 or even 2 year options because of meetings and summer camp, etc. In 1959, a friend was due to get out about this time of year and bad job market, so he re-enlisted for 3, got his new stripe and the transfer away from Camp Pendleton that he wanted. Orders came a couple of months later and his new duty station was to be a MAG in Sigone. Took us an hour to walk to the base library to find a globe to find Sigon, but off he went, and did write back to tell us the boots on the ground version – the govt in the S was very very unpopular out of the city, where he was working to train the S. Nam forces, and what passed for the enemy were armed with muzzle loaders, and were hard to detect – you have to be able to identify an enemy in order to shoot him or in his case her or even kids. He died after falling into a Tiger trap about 4 months after he got there – we got that word from his mom. I started trying to get info, which, at the time was very hard, so went to the UAC or UCLA library on weekends to learn more – in civies I did not resemble the typical Marine, so I met students, and finally made the decision to skip the getting married right after the USMC and after I got out there was no GI bill (yet) so I worked for 18 months to save enough for the first quarter at CO State even though I had thought about getting CA residency so that I could go to Berkley where I had also met student while stationed at Treasure Island. University libraries are very good places to meet same aged girls.
With all of my reading I learned about the Geneva Accord of 1954 when we biled out the French and agreed to stay for 10 years until the popular national elections were to be held – most of the news from Nam was somewhere about the Sports section at the time, So the Summer of 1964 I was trying to do some remodeling for a former gf’s parents, but it was a vast project with half vast resources, so I would go to Berkeley and sit in on classes – this was the summer of the Free Speech movement which was all about the student paper calling the fountain behind the book store by its popular name ‘Luwig’s Fountain’ rather than its formal name – Ludwig was the Retriever pet and mascot of a fraturnity that spent all of his time with his belly in the water. This just ignited all of the other reasons to protest, including remaining in Nam after the treaty obligation was done. That summer the GOP held its convention in Daly City at the Cow Palace just S. of SF. One night I was sitting with a bunch of people at La Val’s Pizza Parlor just up Telegraph from the Campus when Goldwater came on to speak about his plan to Nuke Hanoi – we were discusted and drove over to Daly city to join the protest which was being covered live at a distance from the Cow Palace. My picture carrying a protest sign (furnished by others) made the front page of the Chronical, so when I got back to CSU I sent my paper into SDS and got appointed leader of the chapter, which I may still be. This attracted attention from Conservatives, so our secret meetings – aka open door byob beer parties on Fridays were infliltrated – because I was a vet, one came out to me to tell me that he and unknown others had been sent, after being commissioned as 2nd Lts to spy on us. We also had a group of females who were all about inciting us to violence – using sex as an enticement. Does the govt really hire prostitutes?
Being a dedicated student first and protester 2nd, I finished my BS in 3 years and graduated in 1966, then went on for the MS, after I had tried to write my own grant for the MS and submitted it to the NSF – the very idea that an undergrad would do such a thing really amazed the facluty, and I was able to do that because I had taken all of the applied stat and research methods courses avaiable and became valuable for this and got to put into practice, with a great deal of pay at the time, for my work. I had written the research proposals in several fields outside of Experimental Psych before I got my BS. Watershed Management, Anatomy, genetics and something else – Behavioral Genetics (?). so I have been all about anlaysis and criticsm for over 50 years and have not stopped yet. Job on the net for a supervising analyst for local clincal trial with at least $150K to start – not bad for a 100% disabled vet.
During the war I liked the ones who were honest and went to Canada, but had to put up with the ones that were just at CSU to avoid the draft. When I finished the MS in 1968, we left for Canada where I had a Fellowship – that did not really pan out so I worked for an R&D company designing toys for 0-2 year olds – some made it to market after the company went bankrupt. Another case of vast ideas without vast resources and failure to plan ahead.
Pedophiles have been around since forever. My earliest memory goes back to the time when my parents were working in a Naval Shipyard in about 1942, and living in what passed for married workers. Mom and some other women went some place and left about a 10 yo girl to baby sit, and with families living in what amounted to 1 one room dumps she was probably sexually advanced for her age. She went into the bath room after lining us up outside, and then called us in one by one and showed us hers and we had to show us ours, and she tried to force mine and probably the other boys into hers with the espected results – nothing. But it was just another memory. Then at the wading pool when we got back to CO there was a man, a WWI vet that we were warned about and the duty mom would interfer if he even touched us. Then in intermediate school (grades 5-8) there was a girl that was about 2 years older than I who kept going with boys of her age into the janitor’s closet and then, if they were caught, went to see the principal. In 1950 there were no real MH people around anywhere. Then there was the new class mate, Sharon, who had come from CA when I was a Sophomore, who even supplied her own condums courtesy of her parents. That was my first summer working on my own in Estes Park at a hamburger/pizza joint for a Korean war vet, who had several to many girl friends and was seldom seen, but I was ordered to feed them what they wanted, so I did. Bobbie came in drunk, got up on the counter in the back and wanted a burger and a drink, so I gave them to her, and when she would not accept the refund I dumped the change down her peasant blouse, and so she had to almost completely disrobe to get it all out – nothing left to the imanigation – sexual assult on a under age male. I did not complain. Then there was the teacher from CA who wanted to go on a hike and found a place in a little clearing where she decided to take a sun bath and I did too. She was also about twice my age.
Since I was older than my classmates at CSU and showed that I knew the meaning of both parts of NO, ig got recruited to be counselor for date rape victims – send them to Student Health for Medical and tests for VD and then to the counseling center where I knew most of the interns. Since I had jobs ever since I started the fall term of 1963 I could only take a day off – rats to feed and water – so every break they would dig up the sewer line from one of the women’s dorms because it was clogged – should have been a 6″ line instead of a 4, and clean out the fetuses with a grad student from biology or embryology with his gallon bottles of perservative. Usually just before all breaks there would be a woman taken to the ER, and some of them did not come back and some who had really harmed themselves but not died missed a quarter. That was just reality at the time and place. Then there were the aggressive females – the ones that leaned over my back and boobed me; the one who had one more question after I gave the tour of the lab as an undergrad – she grabbed my right hand put it on her t-shirt only left breast and grabed my crotch and said lets of ****. Learned later from another lab assistant who belonged to a Frat that she had gone to Boulder to a bar with a live band, and had serviced both of the guys in the back seat and then went into the house to pull a train for the rest of the night.
I hope that Amazon does not come – we do not have the water. I voted for another bond issue that passed to increase the capacity of the reservioir over by grandby by 10,000 more acre feet of water NC built Research Triangle Park to attract new clean industry and I worked there for a couple of years for Pharm companies about 26-27 years ago. The contract research organizations (CRO’s) that actually do the clinical trials for Glaxo are already moving out gradually to more favorable states because of the Trans bathroom law, and am getting the same word from old business associates in Banking about the Banking industry in Charlotte. The best on Glaxo staff programmer, J, was gay but kept her social life out of the office as I did being streight. Was accused by a co-contractor of making unwanted advances when I bough she and her husband tickets to a wine tasting to which I took my gf. How about that? Far from the first or last time that I was accused because I had given a family something that they could not afford. Being generous to others can be taken wrong. There was the cute waitress at my favorite watering hole who told the bar tender that she needed a root canal and the dentist wanted half up front on night and I went back the next with check book and wrote her a check for her half – I had heard that when she had financial problems she would rent her body out and I did not like that so that time she did not have to – ever had any guy walk up to you and hand you several hundred without expectations? Met a woman in KC who I met for dinner and she wanted to go back to the hotel with me – I told her to go home to her kids. Dinner is dinner.
            Thanks for your service.

Again; a little more information than I actually needed or wanted. Yes, I’m very aware of pedophilia having been around for a very long time; probably nearly as long as humanity itself, like rape and murder have been. I heard enough from the combat experienced Marines and Sailors I cared for in the service to know that the situation, although a few years later in the war era, was much as you describe. I also know that war was actually won at the end of the Tet offensive in ’68, except for a few months’ “mop up”; only LBJ and friends decided to throw it and several tens of thousands of American lives, and many more times that of Vietnamese’ lives, away! Rather like they’ve been doing in Afghanistan for the past decade or so, both in manner and intention. I also know about the promiscuity and “back alley” abortions; I wasn’t living in a bubble and am not that much younger than you are.
Depending on what Amazon is trying to put in, we might or might not have the water to accommodate them, but we don’t at present have the politics to do so. And frankly, I hope we never do. When I first got to college, I encountered recruiters for SDS and SNCC; and promptly recognized those communist organizations for what they were. I could STILL remember watching Stalin’s wake on TV, when he died, and the expressions on the faces of all those Russians passing his bier; I wanted NO part of that here, and I still reject it as a way of life, after having listened to people who immigrated to the US from Europe in the early post war years, having slid out between the retreating Nazis and the advancing Soviets, and others later who managed to get out from under the USSR.
I suspect your sitter did what she did because SHE had been abused too; children don’t get such ideas on their own. And I am sorry you and those others did experience that abuse. I know the harm it does, all too well.
Personally, I don’t care what life choices others make in the privacy of their own homes; although some will, I believe, bring down the wrath of God, literally, on themselves, and having once told them so, when confronted with those choices, they have free will too. However, when those same persons seek to coerce my acceptance, affirmation, or endorsement of their choices in any way, there I draw the line; it’s not happening. And such behaviors should NEVER happen in the presence of children under the age of 18 either, as children are not mature enough to process such information in an healthy manner; they only begin to reach that level at about 15. Like rape; that’s an abuse that should never happen, period. But pedophiles, like rapists, really don’t care about the harm they do to children they abuse.
Just for the record, whomever that woman was that claimed offense over the tickets;SHE is part of the “problem” we’re now seeing escalate in recent years of false allegations, whether for political capital, revenge, or just some kind of psychopathy, which makes the real instances of sexual harassment or abuse harder to get dealt with, because the victims aren’t trusted and believed. I feel sad for such pathetic persons, but they’re the ones in error, and also hurting others. Also, she’s probably slightly NUTS; a double date is hardly “advances”!
I can’t say that I have had any guy walk up and hand me a wad of money like that, for any reason. But I think I wouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth, as the saying goes.
            Have a blessed day.

          • Martha Serafini

You are the personification of why these sick men continue to do what they do. You support them, condone them. The Washington Post corroborated the stories. The timing is because they doggedly pursued the story and if you LISTENED to the women, you would hear their struggles in not coming forward over the years. Their children who were fearful of being condemned on social media and in their schools. These stories were known for years by the people around them. That’s why it took the journalists going after it and making it public to bring it to light. If you educated yourself, even minimally, about sexual assault, you would know that not making their stories public is very common. Reactions like yours are exactly why. Shame on you. I hope you don’t have a daughter…..and if you do, you better pray that she isn’t preyed upon like these girls were.

          • sandraleesmith46

There was no social media back then; YOU are a consummate LIAR! Those women didn’t fear that because it simply didn’t exist!

      • Martha Serafini

There’s a special place in hell for women like you who re-injure women who have been exploited by a sexual predator as a child. Nobody has tested that yearbook signature yet, so it’s clear where you get your news.

Have you listened to the woman who was 14 years old…or the story of the 16 year old in the car with him? These stories have been corroborated by more than 30 people who were told at the time or learned of the events at the time. Witnesses who are Republicans, Evangelicals, who were at the Mall where Moore hung out, scoping out the territory…who knew about Moore calling the teen girl at her school, going to the office from trig class. The 14 year old’s friends and family all knew about it at the time. You need to stop and think about a young adolescent girl that you love, or grew up with….what if this type of assault happened to her? Would you still be so willing to throw these women under the bus, when they have nothing to gain from going public except the cruel condemnation of people like you? Shame on you. Never being sexually assaulted as a teen does not mean it doesn’t happen. How narrow minded and judgmental can a human being be to think that this sexual predator who has been accused by 9 women, with many, many corroborators to their stories, should be allowed to sit in the Senate. That’s sick.

        • sandraleesmith46

It’s YOU for whom the special place awaits it would appear. Are you acquainted with the commandment “thou shalt not bear false witness”; that’s exactly what YOU are doing, here! The testimony of that woman was already invalidated by her stepson, and the manner of the signature in question; but you ignored that. AND as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse I know a LOT better how to listen for the clues that tell of a person who has been as opposed to someone making false allegations! Your own statement that others “knew” and NONE reported it backs me up; if I knew someone was abusing or molesting a child, I sure wouldn’t keep quiet about! Why did they? What they’re doing will harm the actual victims of such abuse, now; since they have NO PROOF, and there can’t be a court hearing of any of it! BTW, my abuse started at 15 MONTHS and lasted over a DECADE; so don’t tell me I don’t feel for real victims of such abuse. As for the Senate, it’s riddled with such persons, many if not most of them leftists like you.

    • Martha Serafini

      Good points.

  • Bruce Kellar

Poor Miss Tweeden should be scheduled for emergency surgery at once. Removal of her lips where Franken touched them would be life saving. Franken must be a tough son of a bitch to have been able to stay alive this many years. Touch my wife like that I would rip off his face and hang it on his little dick.

  • DiogenesAmericanus

Wonder who told her that she should shut up and accept apology or be out of work for an extended period of time?

  • Mike Barca

I’d be more interested in this 15.5 Million dollar secret Slush fund, used by congress to CYA their sorry lech asses in sexual harassment and assault settlement charges. I want to know when this fund was initiated , by whom, and all the low life scum congressmen and senator we had our tax money used to cover this bullshit. Then, if still in office, I expect them to get the hell out, and repay ever penny of our hard earned taxes to us. In addition, all of your sorry asses forfeit those ridiculous pensions and benefits for doing absolutely nothing for us. How long folks are we going to let these bastards play us for fools and suckers?

    • Tony

But that is why they keep having to raise the national debt. Borrowing money to fund their secret hush money slush fund.

  • Richard Lovelace

Please Google Leeann Tweeden for yourselves. She is a very loose women who’s naked photos say it all.

  • ROBERT POWELL

it sounds like somebody on the leftist side of the isle has leaned on her pretty heavy .like change your tune or forget working here anymore..THIS SMELLS LIKE CLINTON

    • Martha Serafini

Or…..a more rational explanation would be that the same ability that she showed by telling her story also allowed her to accept that it was just a stupid move of a comedian on a stage trying to be funny, but wasn’t. So when he took responsibility for it and apologized, she accepted it. Stop projecting Russian lies and start thinking with your own brain. Yikes.

  • Junior Sampals

You are blowing smoke up your own rear end if you for one second think that you can muster the necessary 67 votes in the US Senate to convict and remove Al Franken. On problem is that we have A Holes like Bannon running around for the last 10 years encouraging complete idiots like Sharon Angle to challenge defeatable Democrats like Harry Reid in 2010. Then don’t forget the other Republican Senate seats that Bannon had a hand in turning blue. If not for the help of slobs like Bannon Obama Care would have been repealed, back in 2011.
here is a little history on impeachment. Be very very careful about what you wish for in politics, your wish may come true.

Notice the involvement of Jimmy (Sunday School Teaching) Carter and Bill (Kiss It) Clinton in the Alcee Hastings saga.

  • libsarescum

Al Frankenstein is a slimebag, obnoxious, and NEVER has been funny.

  • Earn nest

Let’s quit making out like Al Franken and Roy Moore are to be compared to the many real rapists and child molesters that everyone is seeing in the media right now but not seeing for too many years, Hatfields may have stolen a McCoy pig as well.

    • don_in_virginia

Nope it wasn’t a pig! Devil Anse Hatfield, lynched and shot Ole Ran’l McCoy’s Son Asa for fighting for the Union during the Civil War. My Grandfather knew both of them, and baptized DevilAnse when he was an old man living in Logan, WV.

      • Earn nest

Thanks, Don! How do all these stories originate?

        • Earn nest

DevilAnse’ great great grandson has a rifle for sale and that was the story I got from the seller.

        • don_in_virginia

Mostly lazy news reporters! Lol! Like on MSNBC and CNN.

  • lummi

No matter the relative sexes of the parties involved, sexual assault and harassment is clearly wrong, and should be dealt with accordingly depending on its severity and nature. It becomes very problematic, however, when an innocently offered and sincerely meant compliment suddenly is interpreted, and claimed, as harassment. It also becomes difficult to place credence on accusations of actions that allegedly took place decades before, where there is no way to substantiate the “victims” claims. I wonder just how many adults could withstand an in depth, thoroughly intrusive investigation of their past, and know that here is not a single incident that might hold them up to anything from public ridicule and censure to possible arrest. Listening to some of the reports coming forth now, one might get the idea that the females in politics, the media, and the entertainment industries were all certified, wide-eyed young innocents who had never heard a profane word, and were in total ignorance of human biology.

  • Stephen Serafin

This whole discussion reminds me of a movie done by two very well known Actors “When Harry met Sally” (1989). The premise is that men and women can’t be friends because everything ends in men wanting sex or some aspect of it. Before you blow me off [no pun intended] as some crackpot, think about it some. If you never saw it, rent it and give it some thought. I personally don’t like the thought that just because I am Male somebody and anybody could lob a sexual accusation my way without letting a court of law decide whether or not that accusation is true or false. The Court of Public Opinion is not the same as a Court of Law.

  • Bill

the ONLY franken is acting like he is , is because he is being shown to be a hypocrite, just like the rest of his coherts in congress. He is about filling his britches over worry about the whole situation. TERM LIMITS and the crap will come to an abrupt halt. Money being wasted, all of the how great we are, just all of the crap that has been going on in d.c. for too many years. WAKE THE HELL UP AMERICA !!

  • Ischgabibble

Franken-stein should resign and today. That would put an end to all this.

    • Martha Serafini

Then so should Trump and Moore. Now that would REALLY put an end to it.

      • Ischgabibble

Perhaps. Perhaps it would cause more turmoil. Franken has convicted himself. The others have not. Not so far.

        • Martha Serafini

Interesting that we are now calling taking responsibility for mistakes, and apologizing to victims as “convicting himself.” And, lying about multiple corroborated accusations and further victimizing the women (9 for Moore and 13 for Trump) is “innocent…. so far.” So, men are dropping like flies, as women step forward to tell their truths. All the while Trump skates without even an ethics hearing. Would it cause more turmoil if Trump and Moore were held to the same standards we are seeing in other industries? Hell yes, it would. It’s not a political matter, it’s a moral matter. These women speak the truth. Even the governor of Alabama who is a Republican female said she believed the women accusing Roy Moore…..but added she would vote for him anyway because Republicans needed the tax reform vote. Where’s the moral compass there? A sexual predator of minors needs to be voted into a seat in the Senate because they need a Republican vote on tax reform? And, she wan’t even embarrassed to say it out loud. Is that really who we want to be as a nation? OMG.

          • Ischgabibble

The truth as you claim from these women has not been corroborated in a court of law. Accusations carry no weight without it. Many lies in the past have brought down many decent people giving the accused no avenue of compensation or defense. We cannot tolerate that type of behavior any more then what some of these men may have done. Anything beyond the statute of limitations is irrelevant anyway. Cannot be used. That does not mean they are not guilty though. The Governor of Alabama should seek to find another person to fill the shoes of Moore instead of playing the political games. There are plenty of decent people, citizens I think they call them, that would and can fill that job.

          • Martha Serafini

I’m speaking of morality and personhood. The legalities of convicting someone is important, and I agree with your statement as they are related simply to the law. I also agree that the Alabama governor should take action, but she is Republican, and has thrown her fellow Alabama female citizens (most of them Trump voters) under the bus. She stated she believed them, but wanted a child predator in the Senate. That is beyond partisan politics, that is total lack of a moral compass. She should be removed from office as well.

      • Ischgabibble

Yeah but you’d get VP Pence. Let the courts handle Franken and all the others.

  • ThatsMRdouchbag

Somehow I don’t really believe that she experienced a “terrible ordeal” or has carried that much with her for all these years. If she accepted his apology, why the hell did she even go public with this crap? This should have been a dead issue between the two of them once his apology was accepted. This whole thing smells of another nobody trying desperately to become relevant when her career didn’t make her the household name she hoped for. Franken is crazy, he has a background in comedy and this was just another skit from his perspective. For all you conservatives who just love to find someone on the left to crucify in the same manner as the Dbags on the left do, you’re no better than they are. GROW THE HELL UP!!! (Just for the record, I consider myself a conservative, but I prefer to choose my battles more carefully.)
